Move-ups based on the 2006 Trial Season


Dogs Qualified to Move Up


Novice Novice Cow Dogs

A dog must move into P/N in the following calendar year:

a) after having placed three times in the top 1/3 of a N/N class or

b) after having placed once in the top ½ of a higher class.

Once a handler has placed three times in the top third of a novice/novice trial or once in the top half of a higher class, he/she must advance to the Pro-Novice class in the following calendar year and must NEVER run any dog in the Novice/Novice class again

Pro Novice Cow Dogs

 A dog must move into Open in the following calendar year:

a)  after having placed three times in the top 1/3 of a P/N class or

b) after having placed once in the top ½ of a higher class.

Novice Novice Sheep Arena Trials

A N/N pair must move up to P/N in the following calendar year:

a) after having placed 7 times in the top third of N/N class of 10 dogs or more in a sanctioned trial, or

b) after having placed 1 time in the top half of a P/N class of 10 dogs or more

A handler who has advanced a dog to the P/N class may run another beginner dog in this class.  A handler who has run a dog in the Open class at a sanctioned trial may no longer run a dog in the Novice/Novice class.

There will be a minimum number of 3 trials entered before a handler can win an award.

Pro Novice Sheep Arena

 A dog must move to the Open Class in the following calendar year:

a) after having placed 7 times in the top 1/3 of a P/N class of 10 dogs or more, or

b) after having placed 2 times in the top ½ of an Open class of 10 dogs or more in sanctioned trials.

There will be a minimum of 3 trials entered before a handler can win an award.

Move-up to Open Arena Sheep:

Novice Novice Field Trial

A N/N pair must move up to P/N in the following calendar year:

a) after having placed 7 times in the top third of N/N class of 10 dogs or more in a sanctioned trial, or

b) after having placed 1 time in the top half of a P/N class of 10 dogs or more

A handler who has advanced a dog to the P/N class may run another beginner dog in this class.  A handler who has run a dog in the Open class at a sanctioned trial may no longer run a dog in the Novice/Novice class.

A dog must move to the Open Class in the following calendar year:
